The Arthrostim® Instrument Adjuster

Chiropractic adjusting instruments have been around since the 1960's and as technology advances, so do chiropractic instruments and techniques. Instrument adjustments increase comfort and safety for the patient with their ability to deliver a more specific, targeted, longer lasting adjustment. They work by producing a sequence of speedy thrust and recoil motions to adjust the vertebrae in your spine. The force of the thrust radiates through the joint and the tissues that surround it, realigning the bones and releasing trigger points that are often the cause of muscle spasms. It is a gentle, mechanical method of easing the joints back into alignment with the assistance of the chiropractor’s hands. The use of instrument adjusting, such as with the Arthrostim®, allows for fewer side-effects and less post-treatment muscle soreness. Because of the low impact and specificity, all of the body can be adjusted: back, neck, head, elbows, hands, knees, toes, and even newborn babies.

The Arthrostim® instrument delivers 12 thrusts per second. This frequency is known as the "low beta somato-motor rhythm" or 12 hertz.  It is on the same wave length as alpha brain waves. In an alpha brain wave pattern you are still awake, but in a state of relaxed and effortless alertness. By sending 12 hertz signals to the nervous system, the body becomes more relaxed. Alpha waves are associated with relaxation, meditation, daydreaming, creativity and super learning.
