The Arthrostim® Instrument Adjuster: A Chiropractor’s Perspective

After over ten years of integrating the Arthrostim® into my practice, I can confidently say it has transformed the way I care for patients. Chiropractic adjusting instruments have evolved tremendously since their introduction in the 1960s, and the Arthrostim® is a prime example of how far we’ve come in terms of precision and patient comfort.

This instrument delivers rapid, targeted impulses to the joints and surrounding tissues. Instead of relying on a single thrust like traditional manual adjustments, the Arthrostim® produces a rapid series of gentle taps – about 12 thrusts per second. This quick, rhythmic input helps realign vertebrae, release muscle trigger points, and restore normal motion to the joints. Because it works with such specificity and minimal force, it reduces the likelihood of post-treatment soreness and allows us to adjust areas that often require extra gentleness, such as the neck, TMJ, or even newborns’ spines.

Interestingly, the 12 hertz frequency used by the Arthrostim® corresponds to what’s known as the low beta somato-motor rhythm. This sits within the alpha brainwave range – the state your brain enters during relaxation or calm focus. Patients often notice that adjustments with the Arthrostim® leave them feeling more at ease both physically and mentally. It’s as if the body interprets these gentle, rhythmic impulses as an invitation to release tension and reset on a deeper neurological level.

Whether I’m adjusting a stiff elbow, a child’s growing spine, or an adult with chronic back pain, the Arthrostim® provides a safe, low-impact, and effective approach to restoring alignment and enhancing nervous system function. It is a tool I trust daily to help patients feel better, move better, and heal with confidence.
